"Beti ko izzat se wida kar rahe hain" - Boney Kapoor
Relief. This is what one can sense in the voice of Boney Kapoor who is finally ready to unveil his labour of love - Milenge Milenge. The world is aware about half-a-decade wait that the film had to go through from it's inception to release. However, if one would have thought that the makers here would be anxious about what to expect at the box office, then that is not quite the case. Instead, Boney Kapoor as well as director Satish Kaushik are taking it light and pretty much leaving it to destiny to take this Shahid Kapoor - Kareena Kapoor movie through.
"This film is akin to an overgrown daughter who is finally getting married. Ek baap ke dil ko isse zyaada khushi kya mil sakti hai", jokes Boney Kapoor who is now keeping his fingers crossed to see how Milenge Milenge eventually fares amongst the audience.
He adds on a serious note, "As a maker I have done all to ensure that it gets a proper release for itself. There were no corners cut. Every film comes with its own destiny. Milenge Milenge took time but may be that's how it was always meant to be."
However, as is expected from the producer whose films are always pitched on a lavish scale, even Milenge Milenge is no different. Believe it or not but the film is being released on 1000+ screens, clearly a record for a film that could possibly have been written off by many a cynic, courtesy the time it has taken to reach the finishing line.
"Arrey bhai, beti ko izzat se wida kar rahe hain hum", Boney continues on a lighter note, "If something had to be done, it had to be with full conviction. What's the point in doing something where you yourself are unsure? We know the film that we had in hand and hence the confidence. The film is arriving on 500 physical prints and 600 odd UFOs. Milenge Milenge is being released like any other big film."
No wonder, Satish Kaushik can't help but thank his producer enough. "Boney has stood by the film like a rock", he says enthusiastically, "Anyone else may have given up but not Boney. There have been roadblocks, heart burns and challenges but not threatening enough for us to ignore this child."
This is the reason why when the plans were reaffirmed for the July release of the film, there was an added vigour to the final product which is eventually hitting the screens today.
"We revamped the entire look of the film", gushes Kaushik, "The songs were redone too, an entire new marketing campaign came up and the promotion was kept aggressive as well. No one treated it as just another film. The final outcome is awesome as Milenge Milenge doesn't carry a dated look. More than that, I don't wish to say anything at all. You have to see it to believe it for yourself. The film is about destiny and it is destiny that will take it through."
